Christ Jesus Came into the World to Save Sinners

Consider what the Bible has to say:

Who are sinners? Romans 3:12 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” 1 John 1:8,10 – “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him (God) a liar, and His word is not in us.” The most characteristic feature of sin in all of its aspects is that it is directed against God.

What is God’s penalty for sin? Romans 6:23a “For the wages (payment) of sin is death.” Revelation 20:14-15,10b “Death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. And shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Gal 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Why did Jesus come? 1 Tim 1:15b “Christ came into the world to save sinners.” Luke 5:31-32 “And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Repentance is not only being sorry and feeling remorse for our sinful lives, but it is to hate sin and turn away from it, making a complete change of the basic motivation and direction of our lives, and to accept our total dependence on God. Luke 13:3b “Except ye (you) repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

How is Jesus able to save us? Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth (demonstrates) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Hebrews 7:27 “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: For this He (Jesus) did once, when He offered up Himself.” 1 Peter 3:18 “Christ also hath (has) once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh (nailed to a cross), but quickened (made alive) by the Spirit.”

How am I able to be saved? Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt (will) be saved.” Romans 10:9-10 “If thou shalt confess with thy (your) mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine (your) heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart an believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (Jesus Christ) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest (for fear that) any man should boast.”

Grace – God’s undeserved mercy and love for sinful man, revealed and made effective in Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” 1 John 1:7b “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleansed us from all sin. 1 John 5:13 “These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
