Family Camp 2018 (17-20 Dec 2018)

Report on JSM Family Camp 2018 (Sis. Chan Shu Ning).

What a spiritual blessing it was for the 202 campers! The theme of the Camp was “The Works of Christ and the Works of Man as Prophet, Priest and King”. We thank God for a wonderful 4 day-3 night Retreat from 17 – 20 Dec at Le Grandeur Palm Resort, Senai.

Senior Pastor, Rev Dr Tang, in his opening message asked us to “Remember who we are”. We are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation and a people of His possession – I Peter 2:1-10. God has called us out of darkness into His marvellous night. And as children of light, we must walk in the light.

Over 6 thematic messages, Bro Schaefer kept reminding us that as Prophets, Priests and Kings for our Lord Jesus, we are anointed NOT with holy oil but with the Holy Spirit. We are robed with the garment of righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ – not with any royal garments. And most of all, we are cleansed, purified and sanctified in the blood of One and Only unblemished Lamb of God. Therefore, we are to set apart unto good works – glorify God and serve Him.

To further enhance our spiritual fervour, our pastors in their pastoral messages challenged the campers to walk in truth and love, to contend and hold fast the truth and also to guard against false teachers.

Separately, Mrs Ruth Schaefer told stories about Jesus performing miracles as Prophets, Priest and King to the children.

Besides the spiritual treats, the campers also enjoyed the sport facilities at the resort, the birthday celebration and not forgetting the special treats of durians, rambutans, Macadamia nuts and the Magnum ice-cream.

We thank God for such blessings and spiritual feeding. With our spiritual batteries fully charged, may we remember Christ’s roles and our roles as prophet priest and king in our daily walk with Him.

Vacation Bible School (4-5 Dec 2018)

Report on the Vacation Bible School – ‘Running the Race (Part II)’ on 4 & 5 Dec (Sis. Deborah How & Soh Chi Chan).

The children joined the VBS ’Running the Race Part II’ this December, ‘looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith’ (Hebrews 12:2) to complete their race. Similar to June’s, the children were divided into three teams namely, Baseball, Basketball and Soccer. They had the opportunities to learn about Paul’s missionary journey and more specifically Paul’s & Silas’ prayer and praise when they were thrown into the prison for preaching Christ, the story of the silversmith Demetrius and burning of the magic books and how Paul together with all on board survived the shipwreck because of God’s providence. The children also watched a video on Perpetua, a Christian martyr in Carthage, North Africa in AD 203 and another video on the Story Keepers that encouraged them to be faithful to the Lord and to be fishers of men. Besides, they were taught the importance of perseverance while running a race and never-give-up despite obstacles along the way. This VBS, the children also participated in the inaugural ‘VBS Amazing Race’ in which they were divided in teams of 5 to decipher the clues and clear obstacles which taught them the importance of teamwork. The children had a great time earning the VBS dollars with their enthusiastic participation which they used to exchange for goods at the Jumble Sale and to play games at the fun-fair on the second day. All the teachers and helpers are thankful to God for the opportunity to participate in this race so that one day, we can be like Paul who declared, ‘I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God’. Acts 20:24. Amen.

54th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service (8 Aug 2018)

Report on JSM-Singapore 54th Anniversary (Deacon Tang Poh Kok)

Once again, we gave thanks to our Lord for His gracious preservation for the past 54 years. This year our 54th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service was held at Calvary BP Church, Tao Ching Road. Our speaker was Elder Dr Fong Kok Yong with the message entitled “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee”(Psalm 56:3).11 Bro. Liao Yu Hsiang interpreted the message in Mandarin. About 250 JSMers and invited friends joined us for this occasion. Besides our JSM choir singing “Sing to the Lord of Harvest”, the young adults also sang the hymn “Saviour, Like a Shepherd Lead Us”. Our Founding-Advisory Pastor Rev Dr Peter Ng blew and cut the anniversary cake.

奇异恩典

奇异恩典,何等甘甜,
我罪已得赦免;
前我失丧, 今被寻回,
瞎眼今得看见。

如此恩典,使我敬畏,
使我心得安慰;
初信之时, 既蒙恩惠,
真是何等宝贵!

Sing to the Lord of Harvest

Sing to the Lord of Harvest, Sing songs of love and praise;
With joyful hearts and voices, Your Hallelujahs raise.

By Him the rolling seasons, In faithful order move,
Sing to the Lord of Harvest, A song of happy love.

Sing to the Lord of Harvest, Sing songs of love and praise,
With thankful hearts and voices, Your Hallelujahs raise.

Savior, like a Shepherd Lead Us

Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use Thy folds prepare:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

Thou hast promised to receive us,
Poor and sinful though we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us,
Grace to cleanse, and pow’r to free:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Early let us turn to Thee;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Early let us turn to Thee.

Early let us seek Thy favor,
Early let us do Thy will;
Blessed Lord and only Savior,
With Thy love our bosoms fill:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast loved us, love us still;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,
Thou hast loved us, love us still.
